Belle Meade Plantation Wedding
Nashville Photographer Laura K. Allen
Married! Sara + Erik
I rode the elevator up to Sara’s bridal suite, entered the room, and felt so dang happy. The room was filled with the best energy a bride can ask for on her wedding day. Sara’s hair and makeup looked FABULOUS, her bridesmaids and bridesman were hanging out, drinking champagne, and giddy with excitement. The windows of the bridal suite let in the prettiest, soft natural light that, as a Nashville Wedding Photographer, makes my heart skip a beat. These windows also gave us a beautiful view of Nashville, and a not-so-beautiful view of some SERIOUS STORM CLOUDS.
No…. NO NO NO. I’m not having it. We all hear the saying “Rain is good luck on your wedding day”.. and I’m not saying that it’s not, but Sara & Erik’s venue ( Belle Meade Plantation) has the most gorgeous outdoor garden ceremony space and brides don’t book a wedding venue like that if you are dreaming of saying “I do” under a tent. ???? We all remained calm (because the storm’s gonna pass, RIGHT?!?!?), as we scurried to our cars in a torrential downpour.
We pushed back their first look by about 30 minutes, knowing that my fabulous second photographer Melanie Grady could help me make up some lost time later on. The rain mostly halted to a super light sprinkle, and Sara walked up to her future husband in a pathway surrounded by beautiful white flowers. Sara took Erik’s breath away upon first glance at her… THIS WAS SOME SERIOUS FAIRY TALE STUFF Y’ALL.
Fast forward to the beautiful ceremony, an ice cream truck graced us with its sweet melody on a neighboring road… LOL, seriously, you can’t make this kind of stuff up. But it gave everyone a good ol’ fashion chuckle right before they sealed their vows with a kiss. ????
Sara & Erik’s first dance was extra special, they were serenaded by Sara’s Maid of Honor — I can’t remember what song it was, but she had a lovely voice, and I remember thinking what an amazing personal, memorable touch it was for their wedding! I also have to give a HUGE shout out to Rachael Vacek– the decorating & florals were some of the best I’ve ever seen……. Last but not least— JOHNNY & THE LOVESEATS were the very best wedding band I have ever seen!! Everyone had such a great time!! The vendors at Belle Meade Plantation were beyond amazing, and I highly recommend reaching out to any of them if you are in need for your 2017 Nashville Wedding!
