Being a wedding photographer has done SO MANY THINGS for me. It’s taught me patience, compassion, flexibility, customer service… It’s taught me to push myself creatively, and to step up and take control when it’s needed. It’s strengthened bonds and relationships both new and old. I’ve made some life-altering new friendships, and rekindled old friendships that, thanks to time and adult-y-ness and my little Nashville bubble, have been put on the back burner. The beautiful bride in this post was *regretably* one of those relationships.
Lauren and I are from the same hometown. We played basketball together in high school (I know what you are thinking– Laura, you are WAY too short to play basketball…………. aaaaaaaand I concur)… We sat together during lunch. We were best friends! We went to Ohio State together and lived together for the first two years. And then, it’s a bit fuzzy, because #parties, but we grew apart and found new cliques that serviced our social & educational needs at the time.
Fast forward 10-ish years, Lauren and I reconnected on what we once knew in college as “theFacebook”… We occasionally liked/commented on each other’s posts and became fond of each other’s lives from states away, and eventually, continents away. One day Lauren commented on one of my wedding photos on theFacebook– something along the lines of — “I wish you could photograph my wedding, but it’s in IRELAND” and I’m like HOLD UP LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS. And then before we knew it, I was in Ireland about to photograph the wedding of my high school best friend who I hadn’t seen in over 10 years. Crazy how that happens, huh? Thanks Zuckerberg.
So Lauren, her husband Jimmy, their families, and the beautiful Ireland are featured below on what is, and always will be, one of the most memorable, CHERISHED weddings I’ve ever photographed. Get your scroll on. <3
